Boston (30-23, 11-14 V) lost to San Antonio 86-87 at home on Wednesday night. But, the Celtics maintained their 11⁄2-game Atlantic Division lead. Rajon Rondo had 17 points and 11 assists for Boston, which had won five in a row. Avery Bradley scored 19 points off the bench for Boston, and Kevin Garnett had 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Ray Allen returned after missing six games with a sore right ankle and added seven rebounds and five points, including a 3-pointer in the final minute that brought Boston within a point.

Paul Pierce was the Eastern Conference’s player of the month for March. He averaged 22 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists while leading the Celtics to a 12-5 record in the month. Boston has lost two of three meetings with Chicago this season, including an 89-80 setback at the United Center back on Feb. 16. The Bulls have won four of the past five contests between the teams and are unbeaten in four straight as the host in this series.

Chicago (42-13, 21-6 H) lost to Houston 93-99 at home on Monday for their second straight loss. This was the first time they had dropped two straight regular-season games in 14 months. Luol Deng led Chicago with 24 points, while Carlos Boozer scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Joakim Noah added 15 points, nine rebounds and four blocks, but it was another rough outing for the Bulls. They probably could have used Derrick Rose, but their All-Star guard missed his 11th straight game because a right groin injury. But, the Bulls dismissed that as a convenient excuse.

The Bulls are 14-7 without Rose, so they’ve been winning when he’s not in the lineup. They also got Hamilton back from a 14-game absence because of a sprained and bruised right shoulder, but he finished with just six points — all in the early going. Hamilton also had five of Chicago’s 19 turnovers. They haven’t dropped three in a row since a 10-game slide from Feb. 27-March 19, 2010 and may get reigning MVP Derrick Rose back tonight.

The Bottom Line: The Celtics have been winning on the road, while the Bulls are losing at home. The Celtics might not win but they will cover. Want to dominate the books this season with some of the best NBA Picks Experts in the business? Then sign up right now and get NBA Picks Free!
