Cleveland wasted no time getting over its late season funk as it routed the Bulls 96-83 in Saturday's series opener at the
Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavaliers, which lost four straight and five of their last six to close out the regular season, out-scored Chicago 56-41 in the first half.
Cleveland outrebounded Chicago 50 to 38 and also had 12 blocks to the Bulls four. Four players scored in double figures for Head Coach Mike Brown, led by LeBron James' 24. James also had five assists, six rebounds and four blocks in 40 minutes of play. Mo Williams added 19 points and 10 assists while Antawn Jamison scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Chicago struggled to score against the Cavs stingy defense, shooting just 42.5 percent from the field and a miserable 1-of-7 from beyond the arc. Only Derrick Rose could get anything going for the visitors as he produced 28 points on 13-of-28 shooting. The ultra-quick Rose also added 10 assists and seven boards to his game line. Unfortunatley, he committed seven of Chicago's 14 turnovers.
Obviously, Rose's supporting cast will have to step up this evening, which they did in the second half of their game one loss. Chicago outscored Cleveland by two points after the break on Saturday. The Bulls will need that intensity from the opening tip tonight because they know points will be hard to come by against James and company (Chicago has averaged a meager 87.8 points per game in its last 10 games at Cleveland).
