Oklahoma City Thunder vs Dallas Mavericks Game 4 2012 NBA Point Spreads

by Scott Burgess on Saturday, May 5th, 2012

The visiting Oklahoma City Thunder can end the reign of the defending NBA champions and complete a series sweep in Game 4 against the Dallas Mavericks tonight, Saturday May 5th. No team in NBA history has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff series. NBA oddsmakers have the Thunder as -2 point road favorites over the Mavericks with the over/under set at 193 points. Oklahoma City put Dallas on the brink of elimination Thursday when Kevin Durant scored 31 points as Oklahoma City dismantled the Mavericks, 95-79. Russell Westbrook added 20 points, James Harden scored 10 and Serge Ibaka finished with 10, 11 rebounds and four blocks in that one. The Thunder, who won the first two games of this series by a combined four points, never trailed in Game 3 and led by as many as 26.

“I don’t think we’ve dominated them at all,” Kevin Durant said. “We’ve won a few games here and there, a last second shot one. After playing this team so much last year and the start of this year, we kind of knew what we were coming into in this series. We were able to learn from our past mistakes and apply them here.”

“It’s very important, anytime you have a chance to close a team out you need to do it,” Kendrick Perkins said. “But one thing I know about close out games is that it’s the hardest one to win. And then you’re on the road, against the defending champs … you have to expect them to come out and give it their all. Their team has too much pride, the organization has too much pride not to go down fighting.”

Dallas’s Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 17 points while Jason Kidd added 12 and Jason Terry finished with 11. The reigning NBA champs shot just 34.2 percent from the field in the setback. “They came out firing,” said veteran Mavs swingman Vince Carter. “They hit us first, at home, in a game that we needed. We have to hit first and you know the rest is history.”

“The pressure is on them all the way,” Jason Terry said. “They’re kind of young. They might not realize it, but it’s there, and hopefully they’ll feel it during the game because it’s hard to close a team out. And then if you do lose, then what? Now you start to think about it a little bit. Not a situation (down 3-0) we want to be in, but we’ll take it at this point.”

The Bottom Line: I want the Mavs to win at least one game, but I think they’ll be fishing after tonight. Want to dominate the books this season with some of the best NBA Picks Experts in the business? Then sign up right now and get NBA Picks Free!
