Miami Heat vs Boston Celtics Eastern Conference Finals Game 4 2012 NBA Point Spreads

by Scott Burgess on Sunday, June 3rd, 2012

The Boston Celtics attempt to even the best of seven Eastern Conference finals at 2-2 when they host the Miami Heat tonight, Sunday June 3rd. Boston won in five games in 2010 in the first round and the Heat won in five last year in the semifinals. NBA oddsmakers have the Heat as -2 point road favorites over the Celtics with the over/under set at 180 points. Miami’s (10-4, 3-3 V) LeBron James had 34 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Dwyane Wade scored just 18, snapping his streak of 12 straight 20-point playoff games against Boston. Heat sharpshooter Mike Miller scored nine of his 11 points in the fourth quarter and hit consecutive threes during a 15-2 Miami push.

Through the first three games of this series Dwyane Wade is averaging five points in the first halves, while his overall average is 21. “I’d like to see if we can get him some easy ones, in the open court, on cuts, in the post, maybe some drives on the weak side,” coach Erik Spoelstra said. “But we also have to do a better job of getting him in areas where he can be aggressive, and that will be part of our focus.” Of course the Celtics are making a conscious and highly visible effort to keep Wade in check, sending double teams whenever possible, essentially placing him on lockdown at the expense of leaving other players unguarded.  “They double me a lot, so I’ve got to find a way,” he said before Saturday’s practice at TD Garden.”We’ve got to find a way, as a team, to open up lanes a little more.”

Boston (9-7, 7-1 H) jumped out to a sizeable lead and survived a late Miami push in a 101-91 win, on Friday night. Kevin Garnett had 24 points and 11 rebounds and Paul Pierce scored 23 in Game 3 for Boston, which led by as many as 24 in the fourth quarter. Rajon Rondo, who scored a career-high 44 points in Wednesday’s Game 2 overtime loss, finished with 21 points and 10 assists.

“We’re still down one game in this series, so we’ve only done one thing. We’ve won one game,” Rivers said. “We have to come back, we have to play better. I still think we can play better. That’s the first thing I told them after the game. I said, ‘Great win, but that’s still not our best.’ We have to play better and we can play better.”

The Bottom Line: The Celtics have to be at their best tonight because Wade will come out strong. Want to dominate the books this season with some of the best NBA Picks Experts in the business? Then sign up right now and get NBA Picks Free!
