NBA Picks: Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Lakers

by Thomas Jensen on Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

A very entertaining game should be on tap on Christmas Day as Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers host Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns.  The Lakers have experience playing on Christmas Day as they have played the past nine years. Phoenix has not played on Christmas Day in 11 years. Although the Lakers have more experience on Christmas they have not had any success recently, losing their last five games. SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Suns on the Road.

NBA Betting Preview
Phoenix Suns (19-8) at Los Angeles Lakers (17-10)
Tuesday, 5:05 pm Eastern – ABC
SBG Global Opening Line: Suns  -2 , Total 221.5

Phoenix is again at the top of the Pacific Division, two games ahead of the Lakers. The Suns and Lakers have not played since the Suns’ home opener that Los Angeles won 119-98.  "It is going to be tough, they have a lot of length and size which is going to be tough for us if we don't play well," said Nash, "But if we're active and hustle defensively and move the ball it is going to give us the chance to win on the road. It's a big game, they're playing well and fired up to play at home on Christmas day." Phoenix has won 10 of its last 13 regular-season games against the Lakers.

The Suns are coming off a 122-103 win over Toronto on Saturday. Nash had seven points and 16 assists. Leandro Barbosa had 31 points to lead the Suns in scoring. He started in place of Raja Bell who is out with an injury. "That's our game,' said Amare Stoudemire, “We've got players that can score easily. We showed a great supply of getting guys involved.”

SBG Global Current Line: Suns  -2.5 , Total 222

The Lakers have won eight of their last 10 games overall.  They beat New York 95-90 on Sunday.  Kobe had 39 points against the Knicks to surpass the 20,000-point mark.
