The Philadelphia 76ers are on the road and head into Indiana to face the Pacers Tuesday night. Allen Iverson’s unit is 3-0, a start they have not seen in the last six seasons. Iverson is averaging 34.0 points per leading a team that early in, could be considered a play off contender. This seems a shocker to those who wrote off the Philadelphia team as a competitor before the start of the season much less to be the only undefeated team in the Eastern Conference.
In his 11th year and playing sensationally, Iverson has also increased his total per game assists amount. Playing against a Shaq-less Miami on Sunday night, Iverson passed off 13 to add to his 31 points. Leading the league with 34 points, 9.7 assists and 3.7 rebounds it’s no secret another win against the Pacers would permit the 76ers to gain great momentum going into Toronto on Wednesday night. Iverson cited excellent play making and defense as some of the reasons why they are off to such a start.
Another player that has been hot for Philadelphia is reserve forward Kyle Korver who averages 25 points on 68 percent shooting in the last two games. He’s been able to build confidence by coming out and hitting his first few shots. Once in the groove Korver has been able to score in the fourth quarter to suck the wind out of the opponents. He leads the squad with 9 three pointers up to now.

In spite of Chris Webber’s low averages the team has been able to win, the power forward has averaged 9.7 points per game with 34 percent shooting. Webber’s had some tough coverage which may account for the low scoring by matching up against Orlando’s Dwight Howard and Miami’s Udonis Haslem, and he has a heavy defensive job when Philly visits Indiana and Jermaine O’Neal.
The Pacers will try to win their first at home since playing Saturday in New York. Jermaine O’Neal scored 17 points and was helped out by Al Harrington who scored 32 points breaking a slump he had of only 19 shots in the first two games.
Philly is a road dog and may have their work cut out for them but if they can jeep it close and out maneuver the Pacers +6 is a nice number to try. Try the over if you want to bet the total.
