Oklahoma City fans are in need of a miracle if they ever want to see Chris Paul and the Hornets again. Over the past two seasons, the Hornets story has been “A Tale of Two Cities.” New Orleans, forced to share its NBA franchise with Oklahoma City after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city, sees the return of its Hornets to the Crescent City for the full schedule next season. The only hope folks in Oklahoma City have of seeing the Hornets again is if they make the playoffs and being two games back of the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors with three games to go, that isn’t likely; especially with the Hornets having to play all three games on the road beginning tonight with their match-up with the Houston Rockets in the Toyota Center.
Having installed the Hornets as +11 ½ -point underdogs in their game with the Rockets, oddsmakers don’t like their chances tonight but an upset win over Houston could be just what the playoff doctor ordered. Following the game with Houston, NO/OKC will fly to Sacramento for a date with the Kings on Monday followed by a regular season ending head to head confrontation with the Clippers in LA on Wednesday. The Hornets need to win all three games and hope the Clippers and or the Golden State falls flat in the final week.
With the double-digit line, the betting public sees the Hornets as a good value with 69 per cent of side-bets (ATS) and 92 per cent of money line bets on the underdogs. The betting trend also favors the total going OVER (188 ½) with 93 per cent of the bets. The Hornets have a tremendous record ATS over the last ten games going 8-2 while going 6-4 SU.
Over the last ten games the Rockets have gone 6-4 SU while going 6-3-1 ATS. The OVER/UNDER has split 5-5 on total betting in the last ten Rockets games.
