Betting the NBA with Reno Goldberg: Rested LA Clippers should get by leg-weary Denver NuggetsThe Denver Nuggets (39-36), after stealing a win from the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night (April 6), travel to Los Angeles on Saturday to take on the Clippers (37-37), a team hot on the Nuggets heels in the NBA Western Conference Standings. The Clippers need a win to hold off the surging Golden State Warriors while the Nuggets need a win to keep a comfortable cushion between themselves and the Clippers. A win for the Nuggets would also give them a chance to catch the Los Angeles Lakers who sit in the six spot of the  Western Conference standings only a game and a half in front of the Nuggets.

Something will have to give with both teams enjoying winning streaks, four straight for Denver and three for LA. Oddsmakers give the advantage in tonight’s game to the Clippers by a -4.0 chalk on their home floor. The game will be the third in four days for the Nuggets and will be the second game in as many nights.

Denver is a good road team, splitting its season road record at 18-18 SU. The Clippers have covered ATS three of their last five games and are 35-39 ATS on the year. The total has gone OVER in six of the last 10 Nuggets games.

The Clippers are 24-13 SU at home and 27-44-1 ATS combined home and road on the season. The OVER has cashed on totals bets in seven of the last 10 Clippers games.

The current betting trend has 77 per cent of side money wagered going on the Clippers while 56 per cent of wagers going on the Nuggets on the money line. The UNDER is the popular totals bet with 56 per cent.

In last nights home game versus the Mavericks, Carmelo Anthony was 7-for-21 for 23 points and Allen Iverson was 9-for-23 for 22 points in their 75-71 win.

I like the Clippers giving the points (-4.0) tonight and won’t be surprised if the total goes UNDER 203 ½. The Clippers have had two nights off giving their legs plenty of rest while the Nuggets had to travel after a late game on Friday.
