To say the Dallas Mavericks (51-9, 21-6 road) are on a mission would be an understatement. Winners of 16 straight games, MVP candidate Dirk Nowitski and the Mavericks haven’t lost since Jan. 25^th and go for  17straight wins tonight when they play the Los Angeles Lakers at STAPLES CENTER at 9 p.m. EDT. The game will be televised by ESPN. 

The Lakers (33-30, 20-10 home) might be a good bet against the spread, getting a +6 ½ point juice by most offshore sportsbooks with a 199 ½ point total. The Mavericks failed to win SU or cover ATS on their last trip into Los Angeles on Jan. 7^th losing 101-98 as a -3.0 road favorite.

On Jan. 18^th, the Mavericks defeated the Lakers SU 114-95, easily covering the -9 ½ line ATS. On totals betting the OVER cashed in Los Angeles while the UNDER prevailed in Dallas. In the Mavericks last ten games, the OVER has cashed in six.

While the Mavericks have been “money in the bank” on SU money line (ML) bets they are vulnerable on the road ATS. In their last 10 games, the Mavericks have covered six. Dallas has been more vulnerable when the Mavericks hit the road as the team only covering three of their last five and four out of their last 10 games. 

The Lakers would like to break out of a six game SU losing streak and losers in four out of five slump ATS. The last four games were on the road so Kobe Bryant and company should be happy to return to STAPLES CENTER but could be leg weary only getting a one day rest. On totals betting the OVER has cashed in three of the last five and six of the last ten games the Lakers played. The OVER has cashed in the last five games the Lakers played at home.
