Miami Heat vs Orlando Magic 2012 NBA Predictions

by Scott Burgess on Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

The scorching hot Miami Heat play in Orlando tonight, Wednesday Feb 8th, against the Magic for the first time this season. The Magic and Heat split their series last season at two games apiece. NBA oddsmakers have the Heat as -3.5 point road favorites over the Magic with the over/under set at 191.5 points. Be sure to make your Miami Heat vs Orlando Magic 2012 NBA Predictions before the game tips off.

Miami (19-6, 7-4 V) inched closer to top spot in the Eastern Conference with a 107-91 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday. Dwyane Wade scored a game-high 26 points and LeBron James had 24 against his former team. Chris Bosh had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Heat, who held the Cavs to just 39 percent shooting.

In their last regular-season game, Orlando recovered from a 24-point deficit in the third quarter to beat Miami 99-96 at American Airlines Arena. It wasn’t Miami’s first late-game collapse. And it wasn’t the last. James averaged 30.0 points on 59.7 percent (43 of 72) shooting against the Magic last season. He scored a season-high 51 on 17-of-25 shooting and added 11 rebounds with eight assists in the Heat’s 104-100 win in their last visit to Orlando on Feb. 3, 2011. Dwyane Wade averaged 21.5 points against the Magic last season, but went 11 of 33 from the field while scoring 32 in the two games at Orlando. Wade’s averaged 24.4 points on 51.8 percent shooting in his last five overall.

Orlando (15-10, 8-5 H) fell 107-102 in overtime to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night at Amway Center. Dwight Howard scored 33 points and collected 14 rebounds, and Jameer Nelson returned from a concussion to score 15 points and pile up 12 assists in perhaps his best performance of the season. The defeat snapped the Magic’s winning streak at three games.

The Magic must be on top of their game to have a chance at cooling off a Heat club holding opponents to 91.7 points per contest over the last 13 games. The task of guarding LeBron James likely will go, at least at first, to Hedo Turkoglu, who was benched late in the Magic’s overtime loss to the Clippers on Monday because he was ineffective. Dwyane Wade will be guarded to begin the game by Jason Richardson, who has delivered three high-energy performances in the Magic’s last three games. “Against guys like the Durants, the Kobes, the LeBrons and D-Wades, if you keep ‘em five points below, five points above their average, you did your job,” Richardson said. “Those guys are going to get shots, and those guys are going to get points. You can’t shut those guys down. It’s how they get to the line, how much they get the ball. They’re going to get their average. But you just try to keep them in that range, and you did your job.”
