Seattle Supersonics host Philadelphia 76ers

by Thomas Jensen on Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

The 4-4 Seattle Supersonics are considering their game at home against the Philadelphia 76ers another road game. They are getting off a five-game, eight-day trip and will have traveled cross-country to get back to Seattle. After a tough start to this road trip, the Sonics ended on a three-game winning streak, defeating the New Jersey Nets 119-113 Monday night at Continental Airlines Arena.

Luke Ridnour scored a career-high 32 points and four Sonics players scored at least 20 points for the first time in a decade, allowing the Sonics to score their season high as a team. The Sonics took advantage of a Nets team that played an overtime game in Washington the night before, Seattle scored 35 points in the first quarter, a season high, and built their lead to as much as 28 during the game.

The 3-3 Philadelphia 76ers committed 17 of their season-high 21 turnovers in the first half of a 108-101 loss to the Denver Nuggets, who entered the game 0-3, on Friday night at the Wachovia Center. Philadelphia also gave up 15 first-half lay-ups or dunks. Allen Iverson commented that turning the ball over the way they did was not something they should do, especially against a team hungry to get a win such as the Nuggets led by Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony hit a pair of jumpers late in the fourth to turn back a late Philadelphia rally, and was perfect down the stretch from the free-throw line. The clutch play was enough to give this tight game to Denver and knock out the big zero in the win column. Carmelo scored 31 points; Andre Miller added 18 and Marcus Camby had 10 points and 11 rebounds to lift the Denver Nuggets to their first victory of the season, 108-101 over the 76ers on Friday night. The Nuggets played without Kenyon Martin, out indefinitely after an MRI revealed loose cartilage in his left knee.

Iverson had five turnovers, to go along with a 6-for-20 shooting night. Andre Iguodala also had five turnovers, with Chris Webber and Samuel Dalembert chipping in three apiece. Kyle Korver led the Sixers with 23 points and had a team-high 12 in the fourth quarter.

Philadelphia has gone 7-for-32 (21.9 percent) from 3-point range over the past three games, including 1-for-11 from Iverson. He made 6 of 11 3-point attempts during the 3-0 start, scoring more than 30 points in each game, but has averaged 25.3 points over the past three contests.

Sonics leading scorer Ray Allen is also struggling lately from 3-point range, going 2-for-14 in the past two games, but Rashard Lewis and Luke Ridnour have been consistent in that area this season as they've combined to hit nearly 48 percent (34-of-71).

Here’s a twist folks. There still isn’t a line due to injuries and it seems it will be a close to game time swing. In all case we like the home team. Last season after every extended road trip they won. If you get plus points or what they call a Home Doggie, do it. Good luck.
