Wizards and Magic Vie For NBA Southeast Division Lead Tonight

by Thomas Jensen on Friday, January 19th, 2007

The Washington Wizards (22-16), head south to Orlando for a 7 p.m. EST matchup with the Magic tonight in Amway Arena. The Wizards lead the highly competitive Southeast Division by a slim margin of a half game. With a win on their home court, the Magic (22-17) will take over the divisional lead by a half game.

Tonight’s game marks the third of four meetings between the Wizards and Magic this season. The Magic won the first meeting this season, 106-103, on Nov. 6 in Orlando, but the Wizards returned the favor at home with a 112-111 win on December 29. Washington is 6-29 all-time in Orlando, and has won just four times at the home of the Magic since Orlando’s first season as an expansion team in 1989-90. Including the Wizards’ three point defeat in Florida earlier this season, Washington has lost four straight games at the home of the Magic. After tonight, the Wizards and Magic will meet for the final time this season on April 17 in Washington D.C.

The Magic are favored in the game giving a -4.0 point chalk to the visiting Wizards with a total of 205.

The Magic are returning to Orlando with a lone home date tonight with the Wizards, sandwiched between six road games. The Magic are currently on a three game losing streak straight up but have looked good of late against the spread covering the betting line five straight before Tuesdays SU loss and non-cover ATS at Phoenix. The Magic have cashed for their backers in seven of their last ten games against only two non-covers with one push. The UNDER has cashed in six of the last 10 games the Magic have played.
