Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank have conspired to bring boxing fans another fight for the ages. WBC lightweight world champion Manny Pacquiao and IBO light welterweight champion Ricky Hatton will square off against each other tonight at 9:00pm ET at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Battle of East and West, as it has been dubbed, can be seen live on HBO Pay-Per-View. Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton Fight Picks at Sportsbook.com have Hatton listed as a +200 moneyline underdog. Ricky Hatton, the pride of Manchester, England, is known as a hard hitting body puncher with knockout power. He possesses a career record of 45-1 with 32 knockouts. The 5'6" fighter took out American Paul Malignaggi with a 11th round TKO in his last fight, a November, 2008 event at the MGM Grand in Vegas. Hatton is perceived as the underdog in tonight's fight because he does not have the same quickness as Pacquiao and the Filipino has a two inch reach advantage on him. Pacquiao is also a southpaw fighter while Hatton boxes in an orthodox stance. The general feeling is that Hatton will be unable to adjust to Pacquiao's style and that the WBC champ will wear down "The Hitman" with a lethal, straight jab. That development, pundits believe, will open up the opportunity for Pacquiao to put Hatton away in the later rounds with his devastating left hand. "Pacman" has been a world title holder in five different divisions and won his last fight, a beatdown of former champ Oscar De La Hoya, at welterweight. Even Hatton took note of Pacquiao's amazing ability to change classes and still find success. "It's a phenomenal achievement what Manny's done" Hatton said. "He [turned pro] at 106 pounds. So, that's incredible, a man fighting at the weight he's fighting at now." Pacquiao has a professional fight record of 48-3-2 and his trademark power has produced 36 knockouts. The 30 year old has returned his competitor's admiration, indicating that he and Hatton have no bone to pick and that tonight's proceedings are all about business. "I know Ricky Hatton has trained hard for this fight" Pacquiao said. "I respect Ricky Hatton. He is a good person. He is a nice guy and I would like to remind everyone that there is nothing personal for this fight and we are just doing our job to give a good fight to the people and make them happy." Despite the lack of an animous angle in this evening's battle, Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya believes fight fans will be more than pleased with what transpires tonight. "Ricky Hatton against Manny Pacquiao; I know for a fact this fight is going to exceed expectations" De La Hoya said.
