With the eyes of Mexico and the world watching, young sensation, (37-0-1, 27 KO) Saul “Canelo” Alvarez [-1500 ML] defends his World Super Welterweight Title against Boxing Betting Odds underdog (23-4-2, 12 KO) Alfonso Gomez [+750 ML].

Mayweather vs Ortiz Fight Undercard Tonight’s Mayweather vs Ortiz Fight Undercard gets underway at 9 PM ET live on Pay-Per-View followed by the Main Event. This terrific Mayweather vs Ortiz Fight Undercard will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, rather than at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Regardless of the venue, this will be the perfect opportunity for Alvarez to shine as the brightest young star.

The redheaded Mexican, who earned his title by defeating Matthew Hatton by unanimous decision last March, will be making his second defense tonight. The 21-year-old phenom successfully cemented his title for the first time with a great performance last June against Ryan Rhodes.

In front of his home-crowd, Alvarez outclassed his opponent. The Mexican star battered Rhodes until the referee and his corner simultaneously decided the Brit had enough. With Rhodes’ corner tossing in the towel, following a barrage of combinations by Alvarez, the ref stepped in and stopped it at 48 seconds of the 12th round. Alvarez hopes to walk away with his 28th career stoppage and a victory over a heavy underdog opponent in Gomez.

After taking a 14-month break, Gomez came back and was part of reality TV show “The Contender”. In May of this year, the 30-year-old knocked out Calvin Green in impressive fashion in the second round. The last time Gomez had his chance at a world title was back in 2008, when he was badly beaten by Puerto Rican star, Miguel Cotto. That fight was stopped before the start of the 6th round at the doctor’s advise.

“These are the kinds of fights that change the life of a fighter,” Gomez said. “I'm going to take this opportunity to show my talent and show the world the type of fighter that I am.”
