Tonight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, WBC Lightweight Champion Manny Pacquiao will take on boxing icon, Oscar De La Hoya. The HBO Pay per view event is scheduled to get under way at 9:00pm ET. Boxing odds at BetUS.com are favoring the bigger De La Hoya at -180. Given that these two fighters have seldom ventured out of their traditional weight classes, this is a fight few people ever envisioned taking place. However, both fighters decided to move weight classes in order for this super bout to come to fruition. The bigger De La Hoya (39-5), who typically fights in the junior middleweight class (154lbs), dropped down to welterweight while Pacquiao moved up two classes from his usual lightweight. The 5'10" De La Hoya weighed in at 145lbs and the 5'6" Pacquiao tipped the scales at 142lbs. The 29 year old Pacquiao (47-3-2) is considered by many to be the best pound for pound boxer in the world , but he will have his hands full with the bigger, stronger De La Hoya. The "Golden Boy" not only has a four inch height advantage, he also has a five inch reach advantage. De La Hoya's more orthodox approach, which employs a great jab, would seemingly be a perfect counter to Manny's tremendous speed and aggression. Both fighters have knockout power (a combined 65 KO's between them), which should make this fight one for the ages.
