Holyfield, trying to become the first five-time heavyweight champion, ended a 21-month layoff last August by stopping Jeremy Bates in the second round, improving his career record to 39-8 with two drawn and 26 knockouts.
Bet on Holyfield vs Oquendo at BetRoyal.com!!
Oquendo, 26-3 with 16 knockouts, lost world title fights to Chris Byrd in 2003 and John Ruiz in 2004. The 33-year-old of Puerto Rican heritage was then idle for 22 months before winning two comeback bouts this year.
Holyfield, the only man to lose the crown four times, blamed a poor showing in a unanimous 12-round loss to Larry Donald in November of 2004 and two prior defeats on a shoulder injury that he says is now healed. |
