Evander Holyfield vs. Lou SavareseWe are sure that boxing fans have heard the old adage that "everything old is new again" seems like an appropriate slogan for the heavyweight division in boxing these days with Evander Holyfield vs Lou Savarese. This old adage especially applies to the boxing’s Heavyweight division. We at Point-Spreads.com think a more suitable slogan would be "everything old ... is still old”.

Evander Holyfield: -700
Lou Savarese: +500

Everyone and their grandmothers have been crawling out of retirement or semi-retirement to take a crack at the Heavyweight Title over the last year or two. Andrew Gota, David Tua, Oliver McCall, Corrie Sanders and even Riddick Bowe are all making attempts to reclaim their form. While many of these fighters were good at one point or another in their careers, none were as great in our opinion as Evander "Real Deal" Holyfield. Holyfield is stepping back into the ring again tonight in an attempt to become the oldest heavyweight champ at 44 years of age.

Holyfield is taking on another aging fighter in 41 year old Lou Savarese on Saturday night at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso. Evander enters the bout with 41-8-2 lifetime professional boxing record that includes 27 knockouts. Lou Savarese is 46-6 with 38 Kos in his professional boxing career.

Holyfield is a heavy favorite at WagerWeb.com with –700 odds to win the fight. Lou Savarese is the +500 underdog in the fight tonight and unless he lands a few monster punches past Evander’s aging defensive reflexes, he'll likely end up being simply a stepping stone for Holyfield on the way to his coveted heavyweight title fight.

Since Holyfield is such a heavy favorite, the real value in betting the Evander Holyfield vs. Lou Savarese fight is to look at the boxing odds for the length of the bout. The over/under for the rounds of the fight has been set at 9.5. In his last three fights, Holyfield has finished off two of his opponents in the second round and gone the distance against Fres Oquendo. Holyfield lacks the knockout power he had in his youth but if he can land enough early punches on Savarese, a TKO or stoppage is not out of the question.
