Floyd Mayweather Jr beats Oscar De La Hoya in Split DecisionDecided on a split decision, Floyd "Pretty Boy" Mayweather, Jr. squeaked out a win over Oscar De La Hoya to secure the WBC Light Middleweight Title in Las Vegas on Cinco de Mayo or should we say Cinco de Mayweather.

Oscar was clearly the aggressor in the fight but De La Hoya abandoned his left jab by the 8th round, giving a slight advantage to Mayweather.

Mayweather Jr. said he will retire and that he has "nothing to prove now that I am the 6 time world champion in 5 weight classes."

"As a champion I wanted to stop him," stated Oscar De La Hoya who felt he won the fight. "For some reason it was not the night of the jab."

When Larry Merchant asked conflicted father Floyd Mayweather Sr. who won the fight he said "Point system, Oscar wins, accuracy Floyd Jr."

The crowd at MGM Grand Garden Arena included such celebrities as Presidential hopeful John McCain, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Jack Nicholson, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jim Carey, Jenny McCarthy, Ron Howard, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey McGuire, Usher, George Lopez, Wesley Snipes, Will Farrell, Matthew McConaughey & John Cusack.
