Glen Johnson proved why he is the World's #1 rated Light-Heavyweight by displaying awesome power in his 5th round knockout of Fred moore on Friday night. Bodog.com had Glen Johnson as a -2500 boxing odds favorite.
Johnson set the tone from round one by digging well placed body punches into Moore's ribs and liver. Moore had some moments early in the fight landing some light body shots of his own but Johnson was in complete control. Johnson who looked a little softer physically than usual was laboring a little bit in the 4th round but was beginng to find his groove working his way inside with some bobbing and weaving. After Glen landed some telling body shots early in round 5 Fred Moore stopped punching back becoming a sitting duck.
Johnson backed Moore into the ropes and threw a laser straight right hand followed by a left hook that all but decapitated Fred Moore. Moore's body contorted sideways before he crashed backwards with his head banging off the third rope on his way down. Paramedics immediately came into the ring to revive Moore. He was later hospitalized. A 5th round KO in the books for Glen Johnson .
"Glen loves to shoot straight right hands, a southpaw killer." said Point-Spreads.com senior Boxing Handicapper Brad Marchetti who put a 1 unit reccomendation on a stoppage in under 8.5 rounds.
"Johnson has been looking pretty diesel these days and should record a stoppage." stated Marchetti prior to the bout. Online sportsbook Bodog.com listed the under 8.5 rounds at +100.
Light-Heavyweights: Roy Jones Jr., Bernard Hopkins and Antonio Tarver have all steered clear of Johnson recently for good reason. Simply put Glen "Road Warrior" Johnson is a bad man.
