Ringside- Joe Greene obliterated overmatched and under skilled Darryl Salmon to win the vacant NABA Middleweight title as the ESPN2 Wednesday Night Fights main event. BoDog.com had Joe Greene as a -2500 Betting favorite.
Salmon was trying to make a fight out of it punching and moving as Greene stalked him winging bombs with no regard for Salmons power. To Greene’s surprise he was caught off balance with a grazing blow that caused his glove to touch the canvas resulting in a standing 8 count.
Greene grinned and resumed his relentless pursuit of Salmon landing a sizzling left cross mid-way through the first round that buckled Salmon’s legs and caused Salmon to hold on. While still on unsteady legs Mean Joe Green planted a heavy left cross square on the jaw followed by a debilitating right cross that crumpled Darryl and left him laying their motionless for several minutes.
For Greene it was a quick night work for the Queens, NY native with the NABA trinket as a memoir of his 1st round demolition. Greene improved is undefeated record to 16-0, 12 KO’s while Salmon dropped to 16-2, 4 KO’s.
