The crowd at the Thomas and Mack Centre in Las Vegas was packed with British celebrities like Robbie Williams and footballers like Wayne Rooney for the Ricky Hatton vs. Jose Luis Castillo fight on Saturday night. Wayne Rooney is no stranger to fame and fortune but looked genuinely humbled after carrying Ricky Hatton's world title belt into the ring in Las Vegas. The Manchester United football star accompanied Mexican boxing legend Marco Antonio Barrera into the ring as they held up Hatton's IBO and "Ring" belts prior to fight. Hatton (43-0, 31 KOs) knocked Castillo out with a left hook to the body in the 4th round. After the shot to the ribs, Jose Luis Castillo walked over to the side of the ring and took a knee and never came up until after the ten count. When asked about Floyd Mayweather, Jr. after the fight by Max Kellerman, Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton stated, “There was more action in 4 rounds tonight then in Floyd Mayweather’s entire career!” Point-Spreads.com, the oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com and boxing fans around the world would love to see a fight between Ricky Hatton vs. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. "He got Floyd's attention. Now we're calling his bluff," Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather's adviser, said yesterday. "All he has to do is make a deal and he'll have his chance to back up all that talk. All that's standing between him and Floyd is air and opportunity. We can make the deal this week." |
