by Reno Gold on Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Kansas at Iowa State College Basketball Odds & Predictions: The third-ranked Kansas Jayhawks mens basketball team travels into dangerous BIG 12 territory when they travel to play the unranked Iowa State Cyclones at Ames, Iowa with tipoff time set for 2 pm Eastern.

Kansas vs. Iowa State College Basketball Odds & PredictionsCollege basketball oddsmakers at online super-sportsbook Bodog.com list the Jayhawks as double-digit -11 chalk road favorites versus the Cyclones with a 146 total.

Iowa State will look to end its 16 game losing streak to ranked teams but the prospect of that doesn't look too promising. The Cyclones have lost eight straight games to the Jayhawks, last winning on the road in Lawrence in 2005. Playing in Ames hasn't been much of a detriment for the Jayhawks as they hold a 64-36 winning edge all-time and owns a 20-18 lead in games played in Hilton Coliseum.

In last year’s meeting vs. Kansas in Hilton Coliseum, Iowa States Craig Brackins tallied a career-high 42 points in the game (11-19 FG; 3-5 3FG; 17-21 FT), tying for the sixth-best scoring effort by a Big 12 player, the most points ever scored by an Iowa State player vs.Kansas and ranks as the fourth-best single-game scoring effort in school history. Brackins is averaging 20.3 points and 8.3 rebounds in four games vs. the Jayhawks.

Kansas coach Bill Self isn't taking the Cyclones lightly. Especially after the trouble they had winning at Hilton Coliseum last year.

“Well, you are not going to be able to stop him. Maybe we can slow him down, and limit his good touches, maybe we can make him run – which we did not do a good job of last year. So we will wait and see how the game goes this year. They are a little more balanced, in large part because [Marquis] Gilstrap is a really good player.”

College basketball predictions: Giving 11 points on the road in the Big 12 Conference is too much. We like the Cyclones to keep this game close versus Kansas. Take Iowa State +11.
