by Reno Gold on Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

The seventh-ranked Texas Longhorns (16-3) mens basketball team has found a hot streak and will be looking to pick up back to back BIG 12 road wins Tuesday (7:30 PM ET, ESPN) as it heads to Stillwater, Oklahoma for a game with Oklahoma State (14-5) at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Odds makers at most offshore sports-shops have lined the Longhorns as 4 1/2-point spreads favorites for this game with a 134 1/2 total. Texas at Oklahoma State 2011 College Basketball Spreads, Odds & PredictionsOn Saturday (Jan 22), the Longhorns ended Kansas' home winning streak of 69 games and at the same time handed the Jayhawks their first loss of the season winning 74-63. With the SU win, Texas covered the betting spread as a plus-7 spreads underdog. Oklahoma State also played on the road this past Saturday, getting embarrassed at Baylor, losing by 19.

The Longhorns have won eight of their last nine and 11 of their last 14 meetings between the two schools dating back to the 2004-05 season. Texas is 6-6 against the Pokes in games played in Stillwater during the Rick Barnes era entering tonight's game. The Longhorns recorded a two-game sweep of the Cowboys last year, posting a 72-60 win in Stillwater and a 69-59 victory in Austin.

Early betting trends indicate the public is solid behind the Longhorns with 85 percent wagering for Texas to cover ATS and 93 percent betting the Longhorns win SU. Texas is 11-3 ATS this campaign and 5-1 on the road. Over their last 10 games, the Longhorns have gone 9-1 SU and 4-0 on the road. Texas backers have profited by betting the Longhorns ATS in 4-of-5 road wins over the same 10 game period.
The Cowboys have won all their games at Gallagher-Iba Arena this season going 12-0 and is 6-1 ATS on their home court. Over their last 10 games, the Pokes are 7-3 ATS and 5-0 at home while going 2-3 away.

Totals bettors should take note that the OVER/UNDER record on combined game scores went 12 to the OVER and 15 to the UNDER. The OVER was the best bet in Cowboy's home games cashing in 5-of-7 games, however; in Texas road games the OVER/UNDER record was 1-5.

Tonight's game between Texas and Oklahoma State has all the makings of a trap. All the signs point to Texas, coming off their big win at Kansas while the Cowboys were humiliated in Waco on the same day. The Longhorns will head home to Austin looking ahead to a big game with No. 11 Missouri on Saturday.

Here's the real skinny on this game. The Cowboys record is a little inflated with most of its wins over inferior competition. Since beginning BIG 12 play, the Cowobys are 2-3 SU, that includes losses to Texas A&M, Colorado and Baylor. Texas plays at a much higher level than those teams and the difference will show tonight. Texas is the best play (-4 1/2) versus Oklahoma State: BEST BET – TEXAS -4 1/2.
