NCAA Basketball Point Spreads on Duke vs Wake Forest

by Matt Foust on Wednesday, January 30th, 2013

duke coach k riversNo. 5 Duke will look to record its fifth conference win of the season tonight when it battles ACC rival Wake Forest at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This evening’s meeting between the Blue Devils and Demon Deacons is scheduled to get underway at 8:00pm ET; the game can be seen live on ESPN3. The latest NCAA Basketball Point Spreads at offshore book maker Sportsbook.ag have Duke listed as a -13 against the spread road favorite and the Over/Under set at 145 points.

Duke carried an unblemished record into conference play, but it has since suffered two losses, falling at North Carolina State and Miami. The Blue Devils bounced back from their 84-76 setback to the Wolfpack with a 73-57 home win over Georgia Tech, but the wheels quickly came back off last Wednesday when they visited the Hurricanes.

Duke got destroyed 90-63 by Miami as it connected on just 22-of-74 from the field, which included a 4-for-23 effort from beyond the arc. The Blue Devils defense also faltered in the embarrassing loss; the Hurricanes, which had three players score 18 or more points, shot 56.9 percent from the field and 47.4 percent from long range.

Duke returned to Cameron Indoor over the weekend to face a 15 win Maryland team. Coach Krzyzewski’s troops recovered, once again, slapping an 84-64 loss on the Terrapins to improve to 17-2 overall and 4-2 in league play.

The Blue Devils are back on the road tonight, but their opposition is certainly less fearsome. Wake Forest, which suffered an 80-62 loss at Duke on January 5th, is 10-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play after last weekend’s visit to Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets won the game 82-62 after hitting 10-of-20 from three point range against the Demon Deacons suspect defense (rank 10th in the ACC in points per game allowed at 69.4).

Wake Forest has yet to lose a conference home game, though, earning narrow wins over Virginia (55-52), Boston College (75-72), and North Carolina State (86-84). The Demon Deacons, who have lost their last six meetings with Duke, are also 2-2 straight up and 3-1 against the spread in their last four home games opposite the Blue Devils.
