Big East rivals No. 6 Connecticut (18-4) and No. 17 Syracuse (17-3) will get together for Wednesday's only men's college basketball matchup between ranked schools at XL Center in Hartford, Conn (7 PM Eastern). The Big East leads the nation with eight ranked schools, led by No. 4 Pittsburgh. UConn's Huskies are one of five Big East schools with three league losses while Syracuse is one of four schools with four league losses. Keeping up to date on current NCAA Basketball Point Spreads, will equip fans of college basketball with the best tools to make winning bets all the way through the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
Point spreads specialists at most offshore sports shops have UConn lined as 3-chalk favorites versus the Orangemen with a combined score total of 137 1/2. Syracuse backers are getting +130 odds on the offshore money line while the ML price for a Huskies SU win is -150. In wagering terms, -150 odds translates into a $150 bet to win $100.
The Orangemen have their backs to the wall having lost four straight games, all in Big East action. A Syracuse loss at UConn will all but eliminate their chances to win the league and could drop the team onto the NCAA Tournament selection bubble. Backers at the betting window also came up short as Syracuse also went 0-4 ATS during the losing streak.
UConn had its six game winning streak snapped at home on Saturday (Jan. 29) losing to No. 15 Louisville 79-78, and failing ATS as a 5 1/2-point spreads favorite.
Betting trends show 65 percent of point spreads action wagered on UConn giving -3, but 74 percent of ML action is risked on Syracuse to win SU. The combined game score is wagered by 93 percent to go OVER the posted 137 1/2.
College Basketball Predictions: Expect UConn to win tonight's game SU and cover the -3 point spread. Losing two straight at home is not likely for the Huskies, and Syracuse's season is heading south quickly. NCAAB Spreads BEST BET – Huskies -3.
