The fourteenth ranked Memphis Tigers will put their 13 game winning streak on the line tonight against the eighteenth ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs. The big game is scheduled to begin at 9:00pm ET at the McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Washington and will be carried live by ESPN. Memphis vs Gonzaga college basketball picks at Sportsbook.com are favoring the home court Bulldogs -5 against the spread.
Gonzaga comes into this evening's inter-conference battle sporting a nice win streak of their own. The Bulldogs have reeled off nine straight, largely at the expense of their West Coast Conference brethren. The Zags are 8-0 in conference action and have a two game lead over second place St. Mary's. They roughed up West Coast foe Portland on Thursday night, winning by a score of 93-78 on the road.
The Bulldogs have been particularly strong in their last five outings. They have averaged 80.4 points per game in that span and shot 47.9 percent from the field and 42.4 percent from three point range. Their defense has been just as solid, holding their opposition to 63.2 points per game and 35.8 percent field goal shooting.
Memphis, like Gonzaga, has been tough on conference challengers. They are 8-0 against Conference USA teams this season but, more impressively, they have won their last 50 conference games. The latest school to fall victim to the Tigers dominance was SMU on Wednesday night. Memphis dispatched the Mustangs 79-66 in Dallas, Texas to move their overall record to 19-3.
John Calipari's, which team is averaging 77 points per game and giving up just 61.5, is 6-1 on the road this season. In their last five games they have averaged 35.8 rebounds per game while holding opponents to an average of 28.8 boards and 60.4 points. However, they have seen their competition pour in three-pointers at a 42.3 percent clip, a number that could haunt them against the sharp shooting Bulldogs.
