College basketball's best rivalry renews tonight at Cameron Indoor Stadium when the third ranked North Carolina Tar Heels and the sixth ranked Duke Blue Devils battle it out for first place in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The big game tips off at 9:00pm ET in Durham, North Carolina and it will be broadcast live on ESPN. North Carolina vs Duke college basketball picks at BetUS.com have the Blue Devils listed as a +1.5 against the spread home underdog. The Blue Devils have fallen on hard times of late, losing two of their last four games in dropping a tilt at Wake Forest 68-70 on January 28th and another contest 47-74 at Clemson on February 4th. However, they rebounded to get a critical win against Miami on Saturday at Cameron Indoor. Duke overcame the Hurricanes 78-75 in overtime in moving their home record to 14-0. The Blue Devils shot just 33 percent from the field against Miami, but they took 21 more shots from the field and 24 more shots from beyond the arc than did the Hurricanes. Junior guard Jon Scheyer led Duke with 22 points on 5-of-13 from the field and 4-of-11 from three point range. Despite their recent troubles, the Blue Devils are still tied with Carolina at 7-2 in ACC play. Their 20-3 overall record, however, has relegated them to second place in the conference standings as it is one game short of the Tar Heels 21-2 mark. A win this evening though, would vault Mike Krzyzewski's club back into first place. Duke is averaging 83 points per game this season in Durham while holding their opposition to just 59 per contest. North Carolina certainly comes into this game with a little more steam than Duke, having won seven in row and eight of their last 10. The Tar Heels continued their winning business on Saturday in dispatching ACC rival Virginia 76-61 in Chapel Hill. Roy Williams' troops held the Cavaliers to 36.5 percent shooting while outrebounding them 42 to 29. Wayne Ellington scored 20 for Carolina, giving him 54 in his last two games, and Tyler Hansbrough added 15 points and 13 rebounds in the victory. Carolina, who last lost on January 11th 89-92 at Wake Forest, is second in the nation in scoring at 92.3 points per game and first in the country in both rebounds per game and assists per game at 42.9 and 19.7 respectively. They have compiled a 7-1 road record this year by pouring in an average of 90.1 points per game as visitors. North Carolina has won the last three meetings between these schools and owns the all-time record 128-97. BetUS.com's North Carolina vs Duke College Basketball Picks: North Carolina Tar Heels -1.5 (-110), Over 157 (-110), +105 (Moneyline) Duke Blue Devils +1.5 (-110), Under 157 (-110), -125 (Moneyline) |
