The Michigan State Spartans (14-10, 6-6 BIG TEN) are experiencing a rather disappointing 2010-11 men's basketball season and are currently long-shots of getting into the Big Dance this post season. Tom Izzo's squad travels down to Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday (9 PM Eastern) to take on league leaders, No. 2 Ohio State (24-1, 11-1) in a nationally televised game on ESPN. Odds makers at most offshore sports shops list the Buckeyes as 12 1/2-point spreads favorites in this one with a 136 point total.

This might be a bad time for the Spartans to catch Ohio State, especially at their place, as the Buckeyes are looking to rebound from their first loss of the season Saturday at Wisconsin. Ohio State has won the last two games in the series with the Spartans; however, Michigan State defeated Ohio State the last time they played at Value City Arena.
Michigan State leads the all-time series with Ohio State, 63-52. The Buckeyes however, own a 34-22 advantage in games played in Columbus, but MSU has won five of the last seven at Value City Arena. Overall, the Spartans have won 23 of the last 32 games in the series. Tom Izzo is 18-9 in his career against the Buckeyes.
The Buckeyes have gone undefeated at home this season (16-0), but have been poor at beating the point spreads, going 5-6 in lined games. Recent trends, covering the last five home games, Ohio State is 5-0 SU and 2-3 ATS. Michigan State has been a terrible road team since beginning league play, currently riding a five-game losing streak both SU and ATS. Over their last 10 games played anywhere, the Spartans are 4-6 SU and 1-9 ATS.
It's true, Spartans' backers have suffered at the betting window but it's probably due to being over lined. Tonight's game is their first line as a double-digit underdog since losing at Duke on Dec. 1 as a plus-10 dog, a game they covered losing by five. Sparty had the weekend off so they will be well rested. The Buckeyes could be over lined in this game so I'm predicting MSU loses but covers plus-12 1/2. NCAAB Spreads Best Bet – Spartans +12 1/2.
