College Basketball Picks: Duke Blue Devils vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The #2 ranked Duke Blue Devils travel today in College Basketball Picks for the first time in over two years to play the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on their home court. The Blue Devils come into this one winners of their last 13 in a row and are currently unbeaten in ACC Conference play this season. Not only is Duke 10-0 SU in the ACC but they are also a perfect 6-0 SU on the road this season. Although Duke appears to be the much better team they have struggled against the Demon Deacons in Winston-Salem having lost three of its last four games in Winston-Salem even though they went into those games having been ranked in the top 10. The Duke offense can surely score as they are averaging a potent 85.7 points per game on an impressive 47.8% shooting from the floor. Their defense hasn’t been the best however as they give up an average of 71.7 per game. Even with the concerns about Duke struggling versus the Demon Deacons they are still listed as a rather large -9.5 point road favorite at BetOnline.com.

Wake Forest comes into this one at 15-8 SU overall including 5-5 SU in the ACC. However, recently they have seemed to get things together as they are coming off the first their back to back wins of its ACC season. The Demon Deacons' 78-70 victory at Florida State on Thursday was also their first on the road in ACC play, as they're only 2-7 SU overall away from home this season. However, in that tight game the Deacons had to shoot a season best 56.0 percent from the field while making eight of their 13 3-pointers to pull off the win. The 78 point total was a bit better then their season average of 72.3 per game. They will need their defense to step up in this one and that might not be too much to ask as they have been tough at home giving up only 62 points per game while allowing their opponents to shoot only 39% from the field.

There is no doubt that Wake Forest will have their hands full tonight as Duke is an impressive 12-4 ATS after 3 or more consecutive wins this season. However, winning and covering the number are two different things as the Blue Devils are only 3-11 ATS after covering 4 or 5 of their last 6 against the spread over the last 3 seasons.
