Syracuse vs Georgetown College Basketball Picks – February 18th, 2010: Two Big East powerhouses collide tonight as the No. 5 Syracuse Orange meet the No. 10 Georgetown Hoyas at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. Georgetown will attempt to exact some revenge when things get underway at 7:00pm ET tonight (ESPN2) after the Orange thumped the Hoyas 73-56 late last month. Syracuse vs Georgetown College Basketball Picks at SPORTSBETTING.com have the Hoyas listed as a slight -1.5 against the spread home favorite.
Syracuse suffered just its second loss on the season on Sunday, falling 60-66 at home to conference rival Louisville. The unexpected setback did not, however, drop the Orange from atop the Big East standings. Jim Boeheim's squad, at 24-2 overall and 11-2 in league play, holds a slight edge over second place Villanova, which is 22-3 after losing to Connecticut on Monday night.
Syracuse, which is 10-3 in their last 13 games against Georgetown, is hoping to produce a similar effort this evening to the one that buried the Hoyas at the Carrier Dome on January 26th. The Orange shot 53 percent from the field in that game and they out-rebounded John Thompson's squad 28 to 22 while forcing 19 Georgetown turnovers.
Georgetown also enters tonight's dust up off of a disappointing loss. The Hoyas, which are 11-2 at the Verizon Center this season (losses to South Florida and Old Dominion), fell 68-71 to 14-12 Rutgers in Piscataway on Valentine's Day. The upset brought Georgetown's record to 18-6 on the season and 8-5 in Big East play (fifth place).
Neither the Orange or the Hoyas have lost back-to-back games this year, which means the loser of this evening's contest will be nursing its first losing skid of the season.
Syracuse Orange +1.5 (-110), Over 143 (-110), +115 (Moneyline)
Georgetown Hoyas -1.5 (-110), Under 143 (-110), -135 (Moneyline)
