The Villanova Wildcats will look to get back on the winning track tonight at home before hitting the road in three of their next four conference games. Villanova, who snapped a six game win streak last Friday night in West Virginia, is two games back in the loss column of Big East juggernauts UConn, Pittsburgh, Marquette, and Louisville. Tonight's game with the Scarlet Knights tips off at 9:00pm ET at The Pavilion and will be broadcast live on ESPN2. Rutgers vs Villanova Free College Basketball Picks at SBGglobal.com have the Wildcats listed as a huge -18 against the spread home favorite. Villanova played themselves into the thick of the Big East race over the last few weeks by beating conference rivals South Florida, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Providence, Syracuse, and Marquette. However, they still have a lot of work to do to catch the four teams ahead of them in the standings. Luckily for the Wildcats, they have played 12 conference games to the thirteen of Pittsburgh, Marquette, and Louisville and the fourteen of first place Connecticut. Over the course of their six game winning streak, Villanova poured in an average of 84.3 points per game. They could not keep that pace last Friday in Morgantown as the Mountaineers bested them by a score of 93-72. Bob Huggins' squad got off 10 more shots from the field than did the Wildcats and they hit 50 percent of those attempts. West Virginia forward Da'Sean Butler overwhelmed Villanova's defense, scoring 43 points on 12-of-23 from the field, 6-of-13 from three point range, and 13-of-15 from the charity stripe. Jay Wright's team committed 16 turnovers in the lopsided affair and dished out a paltry five assists. Nova's star players Scottie Reynolds and Dante Cunningham combined for just 19 points, 12 points fewer than their combined average on the season. The twelfth ranked Wildcats are 8-4 in Big East action and 20-5 overall. They are 12-1 in home games this year where they post an average of 77 points per game and limit opponents to 59.5 per contest. Rutgers is not in the conference conversation, sitting at second to last in the standings with a 1-11 Big East record. They have lost 11 of their last 12 games, the only victory coming against last place DePaul. The Scarlet Knights are 3-7 in road games this year; they give up an average of 70.6 per game as a visiting squad. SBGglobal.com' Rutgers vs Villanova Free College Basketball Picks: Rutgers Scarlet Knights +18 (-110), Over 138.5 (-110) Villanova Wildcats -18 (-110), Under 138.5 (-110) College Basketball Betting Trend: The Over is 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two schools and the home team is 4-0 against the spread in the last four matchups. |
