Illinois vs Ohio State 2011 College Basketball Spreads, Odds & Predictions

by Reno Gold on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

The second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes (25-2) mens basketball team returns to Value City Arena in Columbus Tuesday to play unranked Illinois (17-10) in Big Ten action. The Buckeyes will be looking to bounce back from the 76-63 whipping they took on the road at No. 11 Purdue on Sunday. Oddsmakers at most offshore sports shops lists the Buckeyes as 10 1/2-chalk favorite with a posted total of 135.

In the game at Purdue, it would be safe to say the Buckeyes had a E'Twaun Moore problem, the guard who poured in a career-high 38 points for the Boilermakers. Moore dropped in a career high seven 3-pointers helping him surpass a 2000 point career milestone. For Ohio State, Jared Sullinger scored 25 points. With losses in the past week by No. 1 Kansas, No. 3 Texas and No. 4 Pittsburgh, the Buckeyes failed to to reclaim the No. 1 ranking after losing at Wisconsin on Feb. 12.

The Fighting Illini also lost in their last outing on Saturday losing 61-57 on the road at Michigan State. Illinois has had trouble finding any consistency alternating wins and losses over their last seven games and losing six of their last 10. Illinois backers have not fared well over the last 10 games losing five ATS.

College Basketball's regular season could not more exciting than right now as it turns down the final stretch towards March Madness. Point-Spreads.com hoops expert handicappers Reno Gold and John Day will be providing 2011 NCAA Basketball Predictions all the way to the Final-4 and Championship Game.

The Buckeyes are good winning SU at home winning 23 out of their last 25 home games. The Buckeyes are 5-0 in their last five home games this season. While the Buckeyes SU home record is impressive, they haven't been impressive covering the betting spread. Ohio State is only 2-4 ATS in its last six home games and overall is 1-5 ATS in its last six games at home or away. Ohio State is 9-2 SU in its last 11 games when playing Illinois and is 5-1 SU in its last six games at home against Illinois.

The total has gone UNDER in five of Ohio State's last seven games when playing at home against Illinois.

Buckeyes' players will be out to re-prove their worth against Illinois tonight after their disappointing showing on Sunday. It is tempting to recommend OSU giving the points but in this case I like Illinois ATS. NCAAB Spreads BEST BET – Illinois +10 1/2.
