The Marquette Golden Eagles will go for the Big East lead tonight when they take on conference foe Connecticut. The Huskies currently have the top spot with a 13-2 record in conference action; the Golden Eagles are in third place with a 12-2 mark. At 25-2 ,Connecticut is currently ranked number two in the AP Poll; they relinquished the number one position when they lost to Pittsburgh last week in Hartford. The home loss to the Panthers snapped a 13 game win streak for Jim Calhoun's squad. They have since rebounded to defeat South Florida by a score of 64-50 at the XL Center.

UConn outrebounded the Bulls 40-31 and held them to just 32.3 percent from the field. Husky big man Hasheem Thabeet led his team with 21 points and nine rebounds in the winning effort.

Connecticut is 9-0 on the road this year, they average just 68.4 per game in opposing venues, but they have held host teams to an average of 57.6 per outing.

Marquette, who lost back -to-back games a couple of weeks ago, is ranked number eight in the nation in the AP Poll. They have moved back up in the standings after winning three straight against Big East rivals St. John's, Seton Hall, and Georgetown. 

Their last outing took place on the road as the took out the Hoyas 78-72 in Washington, D.C. Senior guard Jerel McNeal was more than Georgetown could handle as he scored 22 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out seven assists. His backcourt teammate, Wesley Matthews, added 23 points in the critical victory.

The Golden Eagles are undefeated at the Bradley Center this season, going 16-0 within its confines. McNeal has led his team to a 83.6 point per game home average while the Marquette defense has limited visitors to 65.6 per contest.
