College Basketball Picks: Boston College Eagles vs Virginia Tech Hokies

by Alexander Banks on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

After starting the first part of the season of College Basketball Picks on a winning note the Boston College Eagles look to gain some respectability was they travel tonight in ACC Conference action to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies.  The Eagles come into this one losers of two in a row and 8 of their last nine.  Boston College was looking for a repeat of last years 21-12 SU mark but their recent trouble have dropped them to only 13-12 SU overall including 4-8 SU in ACC play.  Scoring hasn’t been the strength of the Eagles as they average only 72.6 points per game on the road while giving up a whopping 81.1 to their opponents.  Boston College will be looking for revenge tonight as they lost their earlier meeting this season to the Hokies and have now dropped their last two in a row to them.  The odds makers have this one fairly close as the Eagles are listed as a -5.5 point road underdog at Bodog.com.

After a three game losing streak the Virginia Tech Hokies seem to have gotten things back together as they have now won their last two College Basketball Picks in a row.  Although the Hokies are only 16-11 SU overall they have been tough at home posting an impressive 11-2 SU mark.  They have done slightly better in ACC play than the Eagles posting a current 7-6 SU record.  Like the Eagles, the Hokies have been having trouble finding the hoop as they average an even less 69.3 points per game.  However, they have exhibited a much stauncher defense allowing only 60.2 points per game with their opponents shooting a paltry 37.8% from the field.  In their last meeting the Hokies were able to keep the Eagles shooting only 37.5% from the field while the out rebounded them by a 52-41 margin.

Although the Boston College Eagles come into this College Basketball Picks matchup struggling they have done well when having to hit the road as an underdog posting a 15-4 ATS as a road underdog of 3.5 to 6 points since 1997. But they haven’t seem to exact revenge on an opponent from a previous loss as they are only 2-9 ATS revenging a loss against an opponent over the last 2 seasons.
