The Washington Huskies will attempt to keep their half game lead over Arizona State in the PAC 10 when the two schools get together on the hardwood tonight. The 21st ranked Huskies are in first place in the conference and they already have a 84-71 victory over the Sun Devils this season. The game is set to tip off at 11:00pm ET at the Bank of America Arena in Seattle, Washington.
Arizona State vs Washington College Basketball Picks at Sportsbook.com have the Sun Devils listed as a +145 moneyline underdog.
Washington has surprised almost everyone by garnering a first place 11-4 PAC 10 record through 15 conference games. Their solid play has them sitting at 20-7 overall and ranked 21st in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. They have won four of their last five games coming into this evening's conference tilt, but they are 1-1 in their last two outings, both of which took place on the road.
The Huskies were defeated by UCLA at the Pauley Pavilion on February 19th by a score of 85-76, but they rebounded by taking out a different Los Angeles foe. Washington powered past the USC Trojans 60-51 at the Galen Center on Saturday night. Lorenzo Romar's squad shot horribly in the victory, but they made up for their erroneous onslaught by forcing the Trojans into a little brick laying of their own (19-of-50 from the floor). Washington also outrebounded USC 37 to 28 thanks to senior forward Jon Brockman (14 boards).
The Huskies are 14-2 at the Bank of America Arena this season where they average a notable 82.2 points per game.
14th ranked Arizona State enters tonight's conference tilt as the hotter of the two teams. They have won five games in a row, dispatching Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, USC, and Arizona. The latter three wins all came at the Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe where the Sun Devils are 12-2 this year. ASU's latest victory came against in-state rival Arizona on Sunday night.
The Sun Devils overcame 16 turnovers by shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 43.3 percent from beyond the arc. The team's leading scorer, sophomore guard James Harden, had 18 points, nine rebounds, and five assists in the win.
Herb Sendek's club is 6-2 in road games; they average 62.3 per game in opposing venues while holding host squads to an average of 56.8 per outing.
When these two teams met back in January, Washington got a dominating performance from their back court. Husky guards Isaiah Thomas and Justin Dentmon combined for 55 points in the big road win.
