The Memphis Tigers roll into tonight of College Basketball Picks hosting their C-USA rival Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. Unfortunately for the Tigers they will not go undefeated this season after Saturday’s loss to Tennessee. The loss dropped them from the #1 spot to the #3 spot with a 26-1 SU overall mark. However, they are only one win away from clinching a conference title at 12-0 SU and can seal that part of the season with a win tonight over Tulsa. History bodes well for that to happen as the Tigers have won 35 straight conference games. Memphis certainly hasn’t had problems scoring as they average 84.2 points per game and will be looking to make this a blowout since a close game could be a problem as they only hit 57.5% of their attempts from the charity stripe. Still, it will be a daunting task for the Golden Hurricanes as Memphis only gives up 62.7 points per game on their home floor this season. The public doesn’t seem to give Tulsa much of a shot in this one as Memphis is listed as a huge 18.5 point favorite at SGBglobal.com
The Golden Hurricane travel to Memphis with a 15-10 SU mark overall and only 6-6 SU in C-USA play but are riding a five game winning streak. The Golden Hurricanes are led by sophomore Ben Uzoh who is averaging 15.1 points per game in an offense that only averages 69.2 points per game when they have been on the road this season. They have had success under the glass this season as they are out rebounding their opponents by a 38 to 33 margin. However, in their first meeting versus the Tigers they weren’t bale to control the boards at all getting out rebounded by a large 47-31 margin but did keep Memphis’ shooting from the floor a very low 37.9%.
It shouldn’t be a given that Memphis is the College Basketball Picks tonight as Tulsa takes on the Tigers knowing that they are 15-4 ATS in road games versus good defensive teams who are allowing less then 64 points per game after 15+ games since 1997. But Tulsa doesn’t seem to be able to adjust to previous defeats versus an opponent as they are only 9-21 ATS revenging a home loss against an opponent since 1997.
