College Basketball Picks: Michigan State Spartans vs Wisconsin Badgers

by Alexander Banks on Thursday, February 28th, 2008

In a key Big-10 College Basketball Picks matchup this evening the Michigan State Spartans look to spoil the title hopes of the Wisconsin Badgers when they travel to the Badgers home court.  The Spartans come into this contest sporting a 22-5 SU mark overall and are 10-4 SU in Conference play.  Last season these two teams hooked up three time but tonight’s matchup will be the only one of the regular season.  Michigan State is led offensively by sophomore forward Raymar Morgan who averages 15.2 points per game and senior guard Drew Neitzel who kicks in with 13.8 points per game in an offense that averages 72.8 per game overall on the season.  Even with Michigan State’s impressive record they still come into this one as a +5 point road underdog at BookMaker.com

The Wisconsin Badgers bring into tonight College Basketball Picks game their own impressive record at 23-4 SU overall and 13-2 SU in conference play.  Currently the Badgers are tied with both Indiana and Purdue for the Conference lead however the Boilermakers have swept Wisconsin while they have beaten Indiana twice.  This contest looks to be their last tough challenge in conference play as they close out the season with Penn State and Northwestern who are two of the bottom three teams.  With a win tonight, not only will it inch them closer to a possible Big-10 title but they can set a school record for most Conference wins in a single season.  The Badgers are led on offense by senior center/forward Brian Butch who averages of 12.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game as well as sophomore guard Trevon Hughes (12.2 points per game) and junior forward Marcus Landry (11.1 points per game)  in an offense that averages 70.9 per game at home.

With a 14-2 SU mark at home this season it would appear that Wisconsin is a lock to win this College Basketball Picks however the Badgers are a horrible 0-6 ATS in home games off a win against a conference rival this season.  But Michigan State hasn’t traveled well in the underdog roll as they are 0-6 ATS as a road underdog of 6 points or less or pick over the last 2 seasons.
