Today's Big 12 Tournament action features a clash between the 11th seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders and fifth seeded Missouri Tigers. The two teams will tip off at 9:30pm ET tonight at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri; the game will be broadcast live on ESPN3. College Basketball Lines have the Tigers listed as a -10 against the spread NCAA basketball predictions favorite and the Over/Under set at 154.
The 13-18 Red Raiders could be playing their last game under Head Coach Pat Knight tonight as Texas Tech has already
announced his dismissal at the conclusion of the season. Given the team's play over the last five weeks, Knight probably already has his bags packed.
Texas Tech, which ranked dead last in the conference in scoring defense (74.9 points per game allowed), is 2-7 in its last nine games, including a 84-92 loss to the Tigers in Columbia. The Red Raiders last took the floor on Saturday when they fell 54-66 at Texas A&M.
Tech, which had just two players score in double figures (D'walyn Roberts – 11, David Tairu – 14), shot 37.7 percent for the game and 18.8 percent from beyond the arc.
Missouri, like its opponent today, closed out the regular season in lackluster fashion, dropping its last three games to fall to 22-9 overall and 8-8 in league play. The Tigers' finale, a 66-70 loss to arch rival Kansas, marked their first home setback of the season.
Amazingly Missouri kept the game close, despite connecting on just 17 of its 35 field goal attempts (29.3 percent). The Tigers did so by dropping 29-of-35 from the charity stripe and forcing the Jayhawks into 24 turnovers.
Marcus Denmon, who scored 20 points in the Tigers' February 15th win against the Red Raiders, tallied 19 points against Kansas. Laurence Bowers scored a team high 22 for the Tigers off the bench; he also grabbed 10 rebounds and snagged five steals.
Missouri has won four in a row and five of its last six games against Texas Tech. The Red Raiders last defeated the Tigers in 2008 in Lubbock (92-84).
