of the Big 12 Tournament. The win improved the sixth seeded Longhorns' record to 24-8 overall and granted them a third meeting with Baylor. Forward Damion James played, perhaps, his best game of the season in dispatching the Cyclones; the senior from Nacogdoches, Texas had 28 points, 16 rebounds, three steals, and two blocked shots.
Texas lost its first two meetings with the Bears this season, falling 77-80 in overtime at home on January 30th, despite 20 points and 19 boards from James, and 77-92 in their regular season finale on Saturday. Baylor got 30 points from leading scorer LaceDarius Dunn in the second victory and 24 points off the bench from forward Quincy Acy. The Bears also had 23 assists in the game while forcing 18 Longhorn turnovers.
No. 21 Baylor put together its best season in over 50 years this year, going 24-6 overall and 11-5 in its Big 12 slate for a third place conference finish. The Bears played well down the stretch too by winning seven of their last eight games, including four in a row to close out the regular portion of their schedule.
The Bears, which are 9-5 outside of Waco this season, have not played a neutral site game since beating Xavier 69-64 at the Old Spice Classic on November 29th.
