The Syracuse Orange have clawed their way to an appearance in tonight's Big East Championship where they will face regular season conference champion, Louisville. The Orange, who have played in three games and seven overtime periods since Wednesday night, will see if they have one last gutty performance in their tank when things tip off at 9:00pm ET this evening. Syracuse extended their current winning streak to seven games yesterday as they pulled out their second overtime victory in consecutive nights. The Orange, 26-8 overall, have now garnered 14 wins against conference foes this season thanks to their tournament heroics. Their latest conquest was a 74-69 win over the West Virginia Mountaineers.

The Orange did not exactly scorch the nets but they did get off 11 more shots than the Mountaineers and they hit 10 three pointers to West Virginia's eight. Louisville ran its winning streak to eight games yesterday with a 69-55 win over the Villanova Wildcats. The victory moved the Cardinals overall record to 27-5 and it gave them their 17th win against Big East competition this season. It was the second time this year that Rick Pitino's squad upended the Wildcats.

Louisville's stiffling defense held Villanova to 18-of-52 from the floor (34.6 percent) and they limited the Cats second leading scorer, Scottie Reynolds, to just two points. In addition to the poor shooting, they also forced Jay Wright's team into 23 turnovers. Offensively, the Cardinals hit 46.4 percent from the field and guards Earl Clark and Jerry Smith combined for 33 of the team's 69 points.

The Cardinals are now 2-2 in neutral site contests this season; they have averaged 66 points per game in those outings while giving up 65.2 in return.
