2010 March Madness Predictions: The 2010 NCAA Tournament is set to start on Tuesday of this week with the play-in game at UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio. The NCAA selection committee will determine the field of 65 later this afternoon and online sportsbooks such as BetUS.com will release their 2010 March Madness Predictions. The two favorites to win it all heading into the tournament are the Kentucky Wildcats and Kansas Jayhawks, followed closely by the Syracuse Orange, Duke Blue Devils, and Ohio State Buckeyes.
Midwest Region: Kansas is the sure fire No. 1 seed in the Midwest, and, according to experts such as ESPN's Joe Lunardi, the
most likely two seed in the region is Big 10 Champion Ohio State. Those two teams alone make the Midwest a tough bracket, but toss in potential squads like Villanova, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M and it may be the longest road to Indy. Kansas has faltered just twice this season, though, and they should be able make the Regional Finals regardless of the competition.
East Region: Kentucky is the present favorite to grab the top seed in the East, which will have them in Milwaukee to open the tournament. Potential two seeds include Kansas State, Georgetown, West Virginia, and Baylor. Any of those teams would present a tough out for the Wildcats; however, John Calipari's squad has what it takes to survive and advance. The Wildcats win the East.
South Region: Syracuse is being tabbed as the likely one in the South, despite falling early in the Big East Tournament and losing big man Arinze Onuaku. While the Orange have just four losses on their record, they do not appear to be peaking at the right time. A tough two seed, like a Kansas State, which has been through the fire, could emerge out of the South. Other prospective stumbling blocks include Baylor, Pittsburgh, Purdue, and Tennessee. South Region goes to Frank Martin's Cats.
West Region: Duke should grab the top seed here and head to Jacksonville for the first two rounds of play. But are the Blue Devils tough enough to make it to Indianapolis? West Virginia, Wisconsin, Villanova, and Michigan State, among others, say no. The Mountaineers, which Lunardi has projected as the two seed here, will win the West Region.
