NCAA Basketball Bracket 2010

by Matt Foust on Sunday, March 14th, 2010

NCAA Basketball Bracket 2010: The NCAA selection committee will decide the fate of many teams this afternoon as well as determine the seedingfor the NCAA Basketball Bracket 2010. SPORTSBETTING.com will do much the same, releasing odds on the eventual National Championship and each game that leads up to it. Prior to the committee's tournament selection process, the online bookmaker had tabbed No. 1 Kansas as the team most likely to find glory in Indianapolis, listing the Jayhawks at +150 moneyline odds to win its fourth national title.

The selection committee will hand pick 35 of the final 65 teams headed to the NCAA Tournament as 30 teams earn the NCAA Basketball Bracket 2010right to play by virtue of winning their conference tournament. However, with teams like Kansas and, most likely Duke and Kentucky, winning their post-season league tournaments, some room for more at-large teams should be available for the committee to add to the mix. This should give teams that are presently on the bubble (i.e. Minnesota, Virginia Tech, Illinois, Florida) a slightly better chance at nabbing a spot in the final bracket.

The teams will be divided up in into four regions (Midwest, East, West, South) of 16 seeds and teams, especially the higher seeded ones, will, typically, be assigned to a destination that is not tremendously far from their home campus. The opening round locations this year are: Dayton, Ohio (Play-in game), New Orleans (West/East), Jacksonville (West/South), San Jose (West/East), Buffalo (West/South), Oklahoma City (Midwest/South), Spokane (Midwest/South), Providence (Midwest/East), Milwaukee (Midwest/East).

The Regionals this year will take place in the following cities: St. Louis (Midwest), Syracuse (East), Salt Lake City (West), and Houston (South). The Regional Finals and the National Championship Game will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on April 3rd and 5th respectively.
