The Connecticut Huskies look to continue their red hot tournament play on Thursday as they take on Patriot League champion Bucknell. The pair of West Region squads are scheduled to tip off at 7:20pm ET at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. (TNT). Player of the Year candidate Kemba Walker, who is averaging 23.5 points per game, tallied 130 points (26 ppg), 32 rebounds (6.4 rpg), and 21 assists in Connecticut's march to the Big East postseason championship.
Fourteenth seeded Bucknell garnered its first NCAA Tournament since 2006 by virtue of its 13-1 run through the Patriot League and subsequent conference tournament title. The Bison mowed down Army, Lehigh, and Lafayette in route to their automatic bid.
Bucknell (25-8), which shocked second seeded Kansas 64-63 in the first round of the 2005 NCAA Tournament, got 18 points from leading scorer Mike Muscala (14.9 ppg) in its tournament finale against the Leopards.
The Bison went 2-3 against fellow NCAA Tournament competition in the regular season with its losses coming against Villanova (52-68), Marquette (61-72), and Princeton (55-66).
Thursday's winner will face either the Big 12's Missouri Tigers or the Big East's Cincinnati Bearcats.
