NCAA Basketball Odds – Expert Bracket Picks: Everybody's favorite basketball team, the Duke Blue Devils, (yes, that was sarcasm) are not only the one seed in the South Region, they are also the favorite to win the bracket and advance to the National Semifinals in Indianapolis. Online sportsbook Bookmaker.com has the Dukies listed at +100 moneyline odds to take the South in their NCAA Basketball Odds – Expert Bracket Picks.
Duke enters the NCAA Tournament with a great deal of positive momentum, the good vibes are not
coming from college hoops fans or basketball pundits, though. Many view Mike Krzyzewski's squad as the weakest of the one seeds and, consequently, the top seed least likely to see the inside of Lucas Oil Stadium come the weekend of April 3rd.
What gives? Is it just that old fashioned hatred of Duke coming through, wishing the team ill will, or are the Blue Devils flawed in some way? Their 29-5 record would suggest that they are not, and, in fact, have a great deal working in their favor. Duke compiled that record against the nation's eighth most difficult schedule too.
The team has three players that average over 17 points per game (Jon Scheyer, Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith) and they are 32nd and 40th in the country in rebounds and field goal percentage allowed, respectively.
Despite the perception otherwise, the Blue Devils, without question, have the make up to reach Indy, but they will not. Not because they are flawed, but because they are not as good as some other teams in their bracket. Namely the Baylor Bears, which at +525 moneyline odds are a great value play to win the South.
