Jim Boeheim's club will face plenty of stiff competition, though, as the West has six other top 25 teams in it.
Syracuse had an amazing regular season, finishing 28-3 overall and 15-3 in Big East play. 
However, the Orange are limping into the NCAA Tournament having lost back-to-back games against Louisville and Georgetown and they will be without forward Arinze Onuaku for at least one game and possibly much more.

Should Syracuse move to the Sweet 16 they will square off against one of the following four teams: Butler, UTEP, Vanderbilt, or Murray State. UTEP, despite being the 12 seed, may be the biggest threat of that group. The Miners won 16 games in a row before losing their conference tournament championship game. They have the guard play to deal with Syracuse's zone defense and the big people to matchup inside both offensively and defensively.
The Orange are not a one by accident, though, and they are more than capable of reaching Indy, even without Onuaku. After all, the senior ranks fourth on the team in scoring and rebounding (10.5 pts, 5.1 reb).
