The number two seed Memphis Tigers will take on the number 15 seed Cal State Northridge Matadors in a West Region battle this Thursday in Kansas City, Missouri. Tip off is set for 12:25pm ET at the Sprint Center. The winner will go on to face whoever prevails in the Maryland/California game.

Memphis stormed through the Conference USA again this season as they posted an overall record of 31-3 and an undefeated 16-0 mark in league play. Despite their stellar record, they did not garner the number one seed in the West due to losses against Xavier, Georgetown, and Syracuse. John Calipari's squad, however, has reeled off 25 straight wins heading into Thursday's showdown.

The Tigers, who have held teams to a paltry average of 56.9 points per game this year, are piloted by all-world freshman Tyreke Evans. The amazing talent has averaged 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game this season.

Cal State Northridge won the Big West conference this season with a 11-5 league mark and a 17-13 overall record. They earned an NCAA Tournament birth and number 15 seed by virtue of their Big West Tournament championship, which they secured on March 15th with a 71-66 win over Pacific University. The victory was the Matadors fifth in their last six games.

Cal State Northridge, who has yet to play in a neutral site game this season, is averaging 73.7 per game while allowing 69.6 in return. The Matadors leading scorer is guard Deon Tresvant, but forward Tremaine Townsend has anchored the squad by averaging 10.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
