2010 NCAA Bracket Predictions: The bulk of the NCAA Tournament gets underway tomorrow and it only figures that the four one seeds are the top four favorites to win the National Championship. Online bookmaker Sportsbook.com has the top overall seed, Kansas, listed as the favorite at +200 moneyline odds, followed closely by Kentucky at +300 odds, and then Syracuse and Duke at +600 and +800 respectively.
The odds are definitely in favor of at least one of the one seeds to reach the National Semifinals.
There have been only two times in the history of the NCAA Tournament (1980, 2006) that at least one of the No. 1 seeds did not make an appearance in them.
The way the brackets are designed, the biggest landmines for the one seeds should typically come after the round of 32 and, if all goes according to design, at the Regional Finals in the form of the two seed. For Kansas that would be Ohio State (+1500), a team that has won seven straight games and is a league champion as well.
Kentucky would have to deal with a West Virginia (+1000) team that just captured the Big East Tournament crown and that is a perfect 6-0 in neutral site play this season. The Mountaineers also have eight wins against fellow tournament teams.
Syracuse would face a gritty Kansas State (+1500) squad that finished second in the Big 12 and reached the finals in the conference tournament, dispatching NCAA Tournament teams Oklahoma State and Baylor in order to get there.
Duke might have the easiest matchup, given the way Villanova (+2000) has played of late, but at one time the Wildcats were viewed as a No. 1 seed, which speaks to their overall regular season efforts.
