2010 NCAA Basketball Tournament Betting Odds: The goal of most every team in the NCAA Tournament is to win the National Championship (the higher seeds are, no doubt, just looking for a win); however, in order to do that they have to reach the Elite Eight first. Online sportsbook BetUS.com has released their 2010 NCAA Basketball Tournament Betting Odds: To Reach Elite Eight, which will be available until the first game tips off this afternoon. Right now Kansas and Duke are the two teams most favored to reach the Regional Semifinals, both schools coming in at -350 moneyline odds.
Kansas, perhaps, has the most treacherous road to the Regional Finals, which will take place in St.
Louis for the Midwest Region. There are landmines all around for the Jayhawks, even in the second round, where they will face either UNLV or Northern Iowa. Both teams are defensive stalwarts and have the ability to drag Kansas into a grind it out nail-biter.
Should Bill Self's troops win their second round game, they will, most likely, have to face either No. 5 Michigan State or No. 4 Maryland. While the Spartans are not the team they were a year ago when they ousted the Jayhawks from the NCAA Tournament, they are still dangerous, and they have great experience at the point in Kalin Lucas. Maryland is also a capable group, which on the year has hit 39 percent from beyond the arc, a skill that can always earn an upset victory.
Duke will face either California or Louisville in the second round, and neither opponent is exactly a walk in the park. The Golden Bears dominated a weaker Pac-10 this year, and Louisville, while up down, knocked off the West Region's No. 1, Syracuse, two times.
If the Dukies reach the Sweet 16, they will probably find Texas A&M or Purdue waiting for them. The Aggies have faced the rigors of a tough non-conference and conference schedule and will have already seen anything the Blue Devils can throw at them. The Boilermakers, if they are there, will have obviously found a way to get a couple of difficult tournament wins without Robby Hummel.
