Pittsburgh's lost its last game, falling 45-50 to Notre Dame in the first round of the Big East Tournament, but the Panthers had won eight of nine prior to that setback. Jamie Dixon's club finished fourth in the conference standings this year with a 24-8 overall record and 13-5 mark in league action.
The Panthers, which have held teams to an average of 61.4 points per game, are led by sophomore guard Ashton Gibbs. The New Jersey native is averaging 15.8 points per game on the year.
Pittsburgh went 7-5 against NCAA Tournament competition this season, beating Syracuse, Villanova, and West Virginia.
