The Siena Saints captured their third straight NCAA Tournament berth last week by beating Fairfield 
72-65 OT in the championship game of the MAAC Tourney. The dramatic win brought the Saints record to 27-6 overall and assured them both the regular season and conference tournament titles.
Siena is strong up front as forwards Alex Franklin and Ryan Rossiter combined to average 30.2 points and 18.1 rebounds per game during the Saints outstanding 2009-2010 campaign.
Despite the Saints strong record, they went 0-4 against fellow tournament teams, losing on the road to Temple, Georgia Tech, Northern Iowa, and Butler by an average of 12.75 points per game.
Prior to its February 24th meeting with Minnesota, Purdue looked to be in line for a one or two seed in the NCAA Tournament. However, the Boilermakers lost star forward Robby Hummel (15.7 pts, 6.9 reb) to a torn ACL that night and they have not been the same since. In its five subsequent games, Purdue is a mere 3-2 (won nine in a row prior to it) with losses to Michigan State and Minnesota, teams it beat handily before.
The Boilermakers hit rock bottom in the Big Ten Tournament, though, getting stomped 42-69 by the Golden Gophers.
It will be up to guard E'Twaun Moore and center JaJaun Johnson to right Purdue's course and carry the team to NCAA glory. And they cannot start redirecting soon enough as the Saints are a more than capable 13 seed.
